Our food is inspired by memory A bowl of olives with feta: every plate, every flavour, has a purpose and a story. We honour our roots, our craft Lemons on the tree and our beautiful Hout Bay home A boat in clear blue water.

Yiayia's kitchen

Recipes that crossed two oceans

Eleni Papadaki left Chania, Crete, in 1968 with a suitcase, a copper briki and a notebook of recipes. Ten years later she opened a corner café in Sea Point, and Cape Town has been eating her spanakopita ever since.

Her grandson Nikos runs the kitchen now, but every pie, every keftes and every tray of baklava still follows her notebook. She still checks.

The octopus is the best I have had outside of Greece, and I grew up in Thessaloniki. Yiayia came out to say hello and stayed for an ouzo.

Eleni K.Constantia · Family lunch

We went for the Greek Night and ended up dancing with strangers and smashing plates at eleven on a Thursday. Book it, you will not regret it.

Sipho & MeganHout Bay · Greek Night

Bright, breezy and so friendly. The lamb chops and the lemon potatoes are exactly as they should be. Our new Sunday spot.

David M.Camps Bay · Sunday lunch

A Santorini wine list in Cape Town! The sommelier talked us through three Assyrtikos and none of them disappointed.

Priya N.Llandudno · Dinner for two

We booked the terrace for my mother's seventieth. The meze kept coming, the staff were wonderful and nobody wanted to leave.
